H&M at Melbourne’s GPO

After many rumours, it has finally been confirmed that H&M is coming to Australia! What’s even more exciting is that they are opening their first store in Melbourne this April. The multinational Swedish retail clothing company, which already exists in 53 countries, offers “design, quality and sustainability” without the usual high price tags.

In late 2013 H&M revealed that they had finally secured the location of their flagship store in Melbourne’s GPO. The store is said to be one of the biggest in the world, with 3 floors and occupying approximately 3000m².

With exclusive designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Victor & Rolf, Versace, and Roberto Cavalli at affordable prices, how can you really go wrong? Not to mention “iconic collaborations” with Marimekko, Madonna, and Kylie Minogue. It’s like a dream come true.

If you’re as excited as I am, you’ll be thrilled to discover they’ve recently debuted their Australia website. Unfortunately it’s currently unavailable for online purchases, but there’s nothing to stop us from planning a shopping list.

It won’t be long till H&M joins Melbourne’s GPO – April 5th at 10am. Note it in your diaries; this will definitely be an event worth witnessing.

Sydney may have overtaken Melbourne as Australia’s fashion capital but we have a feeling this won’t be for very long. The Sartorialist may rate Sydney style as sexier and more feminine, but we’re not that bothered. As Jo Barry of the Word Collective says, ‘there’s a reason Topshop, Muji, Acne and A.P.C. chose Melbourne [first]’.
